Oklahoma City Labor Day Get-A-Way Print
Labor Day weekend will be a great time in Oklahoma City. Each year, as many as 250 Prime Timers gather at the Habana Inn, the Southwest’s largest gay resort, to eat, drink, work on their tans, and generally have a good time meeting old friends, and making new ones.

The five-day event kicks off Thursday, September 2, with an evening welcome reception around the pool. Friday includes a continental breakfast, an open bar happy hour, and a banquet with professional entertainment. Saturday offers the same, with the addition of a box lunch around the pool. On Sunday, there is a continental breakfast, a brunch, and happy hour. Sunday evening is traditionally on your own for dinner – however, last year a group got together at the new “Boom” supper club, just a block away, for dinner and an early drag show designed especially for Prime Timers. It was popular, so we are planning it again at a very reasonable cost.

Monday features coffee and juice by the pool for early risers,then an earlier brunch to accommodate those who have to drive?or fly home. Central Oklahoma Prime Timers have arranged for?a free “late-out” at the Habana on Monday and Tuesday, for those who want to extend their stay.

Each year, as many as 30 members of Central Oklahoma?Prime Timers volunteer their time all year to ensure that their guests have to worry about nothing but having a good time. Everything is included in the low, low package deal price of $145 – welcome reception, continental breakfasts, two banquets?with professional entertainment, three more meals, and three happy hours. If you register by July 15, the price is just $135. If you want to select only a few of the meals, you can register ala carte for $70, and pay for the meals individually. However, the package deal saves you $44 dollars if you register before July 15. You are also welcome to register when you arrive – but on-site registration for the entire package will cost $209; save your?money and register before you arrive!

Your hotel room is not included in the price. The Habana will begin taking reservations Monday, March 1 at 8:00 a.m. CST. Call 1-405-528-2221 or 1-800-988-2221 toll-free. You increase your chances of getting through by calling the 405 area code long distance number, because the 1-800 tollfree number only rings on one phone, while the other number will accommodate up to five callers at a time. Tell the hotel you are with Prime Timers, no code needed. If you want to reserve more than one room, you will need the name of the person who will occupy that room.
